It just seems like a poor design choice; the pages would only make sense at one particular spot, and even then, you could still see the right half of that page on every other page before it.
I guess you could try folding the pages outward to make them extend or folding inward to shrink the page on the left, but there's clearly front and back covers and other pages shown here, and no crease in the middle of the paper showing signs of being folded!

So, correct me if I'm wrong here, but could a book with those dimensions even exist without being unnecessarily cumbersome?

that's a reasonable question, I think this is edited to be 3 pages next to each other, obviously, the real books can't be printed like this. although maybe in lore the book is enchanted?
