With a lot of images you'll have to use an image editing software to separate the text from any background elements. I also recommend using translation software other than google translate. Something like Jisho or DeepL are more helpful. When it has difficulty pulling a specific character I'll just copy that character from a site with their alphabet, and I use kanji writer to find the complex ones. Even with all that sometimes you'll just have to try and interpolate what it means. It's time-consuming and doesn't hold a candle to actually speaking the language.
