Verity is a new character introduced in the movie "Pokmon: I Choose You", a movie retelling the early parts of Ash's journey with a different story and supporting cast. In the movie, Ash meets Verity instead of Misty. She's a Piplup Trainer from Sinnoh, trying to get away from her the high expectations of her mother, a famous Pokmon Trainer (who looks like Cynthia, but the writers say she isn't).
