McDonald's Japan's post-5pm menu line-up, known in full as "McDonald's in the Night" (or Yoru Mac, "Night Mac"), introduced in June 2017 first in Aichi, Gifu and Mie Prefecture, before being expanded nation-wide in March 2018. Several different products have come and gone as part of the line-up, and in turn, so too have several advertising campaigns. In Autumn 2023, one such advertisement campaign launched, focused on depicting groups of characters (ex. a family, a group of friends) happily hanging out together and enjoying items from the line-up, in commercials animated by urachan1629.
One of the commercials, depicting a mother, father and daughter, unexpectedly went viral on western Twitter, resulting in tons of fanart. Later, another commercial featuring a boyfriend and girlfriend received similar amounts of attention.
