The subject is attempting to resist being hypnotized/mind controlled, but the attempt is weak. This can either be due to lack of effort or a lack of capability to put on a better fight.
If the attempt isn't weak, use resisting instead.
This tag used to represent only resistance from lack of effort or conviction, but that role has been replaced by the tag halfhearted_resistance.
Not to be confused with unhappy_trance, where a character is well under control but consciously upset.
